Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon until the apples are evenly coated.
- Transfer the apple mixture to a greased baking dish.
Crumble Topping
- In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, the remaining 1/4 cup of brown sugar, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Add the cold cubed butter to the mixture and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to combine until it looks like crumbs.
Baking
- Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30–35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Notes
Serve warm, either on its own or topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can reheat in the oven or microwave individual portions. For extra crunch, consider adding nuts like walnuts or pecans to the topping. Avoid overmixing the crumble topping to maintain a crumbly texture.
