Ingredients

Meatball Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground pork Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 each egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Apple Glaze Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup apple juice Martinelli’s preferred.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch Mix with water to create a slurry.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground pork, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined, then form into meatballs about 1 inch in size.
  3. Place meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through.
Making the Glaze
  1. While the meatballs are baking, in a saucepan over medium heat, combine apple juice, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer.
  2. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with a bit of water to create a slurry. Add this to the sauce and stir until it thickens.
Assembly
  1. Once the meatballs are cooked, toss them in the apple glaze and serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary into the meatball mixture. Don't overcrowd the baking sheet for even cooking.
