Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's softened but not melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use a mix of dark and milk chocolate for richer flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve the cookies warm or at room temperature, great with milk or coffee. For a treat, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week, or freeze for up to three months.
