Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks
  • 1 cup M&M's (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the flour and baking soda.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and egg to the mixture and mix until well combined.
  5. Beat in the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, and M&M's if you're using them.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  3. Let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Ensure that your butter and cream cheese are at room temperature for easier mixing. Don't overmix the dough after adding the flour; it helps keep the cookies tender. For more texture, try adding nuts or other candies to the dough.
