Preparation
- Preheat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge the onion slices in the flour mixture until well coated.
- Dip the coated onion slices in grated Parmesan cheese.
- Carefully place the coated onion slices in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the chips from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Serving
- Serve warm as is, or pair with your favorite dips like sour cream or ranch dressing.
- These chips also make a great side dish for sandwiches or burgers.
Storage
- If you have any leftover chips, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for a couple of days.
- Re-crisp in the oven for a few minutes before serving again.
Notes
For extra crispy chips, let the coated onion slices sit for a few minutes before frying. Ensure oil is at the right temperature; too hot will burn the chips, and too cool will make them soggy. Experiment with different seasonings to customize the flavor.
