  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced Slice against the grain for tenderness.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Bright green and tender-crisp for best texture.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Use gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice for serving Cooked rice Rice soaks up the sauce well.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and stir-fry the garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the broccoli and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  4. Return the beef to the pan and mix everything together. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is coated in the sauce and heated through.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over cooked rice.

Notes

You can garnish with sesame seeds or sliced green onions. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
