  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack) Choose your favorite cheese.
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes (canned or fresh) Drain if using canned.
  • 1/4 cup diced onion Red or white onion works.
  • 1 piece jalapeño, finely chopped (optional) Adjust based on desired spice level.
Spices
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Adds depth to flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder Adjust spice level as desired.
  • to taste salt and pepper Season to preference.
Garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the cottage cheese, shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño (if using).
  2. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the cheese is melted and the mixture is warm, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Once everything is melted and combined nicely, remove from heat.
  5. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

For a smoother texture, blend the cottage cheese before adding it to the saucepan. You can add cooked ground turkey or beef for a heartier dip. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
