  • 2 cups rolled oats Choose old-fashioned rolled oats for best texture.
  • 1 cup nut butter (e.g. almond or peanut butter) Natural nut butter without added sugars is recommended.
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup Maple syrup can be used for a vegan option.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Brown sugar adds sweetness and moisture.
  • 1/2 cup mix-ins (e.g. chocolate chips, dried fruit, nuts) Customize based on your preferences.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the flavor of the bars.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Balances sweetness.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the rolled oats, nut butter, honey or maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  3. Stir in your choice of mix-ins.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking pan and press firmly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.

Notes

Store your homemade granola bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. They can also be refrigerated for up to two weeks or frozen for up to three months. Pressing the mixture firmly helps the bars stick together. Experiment with different nut butters and mix-ins.
