Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups warm water Make sure the water is warm, not hot.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast Yeast should be activated in warm water.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 to 5 cups all-purpose flour Add flour gradually until a dough forms.
  • 1/4 cup baking soda Used for boiling the pretzel bites.
  • 1 large egg, beaten For brushing the pretzel bites.
  • Coarse sea salt Sprinkle on top before baking.
  • Dipping sauces (optional) Pair with mustard, cheese sauce, or chocolate.

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Turn dough onto a floured surface and divide into small pieces. Shape each piece into a bite-sized ball.
  3. Boil water in a large pot and add baking soda. Drop pretzel bites into boiling water for 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Brush pretzel bites with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven, brush with melted butter, and serve with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

To store pretzel bites, place them in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay fresh for a couple of days. For longer storage, freeze them after cooling completely.
