Method
- Cook the lo mein noodles or spaghetti according to the package directions until just tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, honey, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side, until pink and tender. Remove and set aside.
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the onion, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, snap peas, and garlic. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet. Add the cooked noodles and pour the sauce over everything.
- Toss well until the noodles, shrimp, and vegetables are evenly coated and heated through. Sprinkle with sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
Cook the noodles only until just tender so they do not become too soft when tossed with the sauce.
Cook the shrimp briefly, just until pink and tender, then remove them before stir-frying the vegetables.
Keep the vegetables crisp-tender for the best texture.
The red pepper flakes are optional and can be omitted for a milder dish.
Lo mein noodles or spaghetti may be used depending on availability.
