Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add in softened butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in milk and vanilla extract, and mix until just combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared dish and spread evenly.
- In another bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with the remaining sugar and let sit for 10 minutes.
- Layer the strawberries over the batter in the dish, then spread the remaining batter on top of the strawberries.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before slicing into bars and serve with whipped cream.
Notes
Serve chilled or at room temperature. For added appeal, top with extra strawberry slices.
