Ingredients

  • 1 lb frozen French fries
  • 1 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Equipment

  • Baking sheet or air fryer
  • large skillet
  • Baking dish
  • Tongs

Method

  1. Bake or air fry the French fries until golden and crispy, then spread them evenly in a baking dish.
  2. Season the steak with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a hot skillet. Sear the steak for 2 to 3 minutes, until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the garlic for 30 seconds. Add the shrimp, Cajun seasoning, and Italian seasoning. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until the shrimp are pink and tender.
  5. Stir in the sliced red bell pepper and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Sprinkle the mozzarella evenly over the fries. Broil or bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Top the cheesy fries evenly with the cooked steak, shrimp, and peppers.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the skillet when searing the steak so it browns instead of steaming.
Cook the fries until very crisp before adding the cheese because they will soften slightly beneath the toppings.
Watch the broiler closely when melting the cheese because it can brown quickly.
Distribute the steak, shrimp, and peppers evenly so each serving gets a balanced mix of toppings.
Flank steak or strip steak may be substituted for sirloin or ribeye.
This dish is best assembled and served immediately. The steak and shrimp may be prepared ahead and reheated before assembly.
Optional toppings include sour cream, sliced jalapeños, hot sauce, ranch, garlic aioli, or lime wedges.
